The USA, Britain and Turkey are Israel’s only friends in the world. The United States was first in developing an atomic bomb. Albert Einstein signed on to a letter drafted by physicist Leo Szilard approving the suicidal weapon because of a fear Germany would produce such a bomb first.
“Had I known Germany would not develop the bomb, I would not have lifted a finger.”
Einstein’s only regret in life was signing that letter to President Roosevelt in support of the atomic bomb. (“Einstein” by biographer Walter Isaacson.)
When Einstein heard of Hiroshima and Nagasaki being incinerated in August 1945, he lamented “Maybe I will be forgiven.” J. Robert Oppenheimer was the foremost scientist who directed, coordinated and supervised detonation of the first atomic bomb in Los Alamos, New Mexico, July 1945.
The former Soviet Union was quick to follow with detonation of such a horrible weapon on August 29, 1949. The nuclear club now has these member nations: Britain, China, France, India, North Korea, Pakistan, Russia, and the USA.
Israel “neither affirms nor denies” having such weapons. Former USA Secretary of State Colin Powell claims an email informed him Israel has 200 city destroying weapons.
In the 1980’s, Mordechai Vanunu decided to speak with a reporter from the London Times. As an Israeli nuclear weapons technician, Vanunu intended to tell the truth about Israel’s weapons. Israeli Mosad (their CIA) agents set a “honey trap” for Vanunu in London, kidnapped him and sent the honest technician Vanunu to prison for 25 years.
Feeling strong sympathy for a man who wanted only to tell the truth about Israel’s weapons, I wrote a letter addressed simply: Mordechai Vanunu, Ashkelon prison, Ashkelon, Israel.
The message was simply my concern for his well-being and my best wishes. I had no hope whatsoever that my letter would reach him. To my amazement I received a kind response within one month from Vanunu expressing gratitude for my brief letter to him. Deep regrets are not to have saved the message from Ashkelon prison. Vanunu was released from prison in 2004. He is not free to leave Israel or speak with journalists.
The Arms Control Association 2017 actually has Israel listed with 80 nuclear weapons.
Israel is about the size of New Jersey. One small Hiroshima size bomb might incinerate Israel completely. Enslavement to atomic weapons is to assure no country uses them.
They are a trillion dollar enterprise employing hundreds of thousands who could lose their lives within seconds in “the final failure” (words of President J.F. Kennedy).
